Experience

I have been practising as a therapist for over 7 years now, working with adults in the age range of 18 up to 50. My client population includes grad students, working professionals, NRIs, queer individuals, couples and groups. I also work with corporates and institutes for online and in-person wellness programs and workshops. I'm a trauma-informed, intersectional, queer affirmative, feminist practitioner. My work has been focused on bring positive self awareness and support growth in self orientation. Alongwith, I have also been providing training and supervision to candidates starting in the field of psychotherapy. Some of my favourite times at work are when I'm conducting psychoeducating workshops on mental health, illnesses, and organsiational support.

Workstyle

The aim of my practice is to make it a space of acceptance and living one's truth, no matter their gender, caste, class or sexuality. Being queer myself, I try to honour the lived experiences of my clients because I understand how radical an act of being your true authentic self in this challenging world is. I know my clients come from varied backgrounds and I prefer to not use a pathologising tone/narrative in the sessions or towards them. You can expect more relatable and socially relevant conversations in the session for better understanding. Instead of using heavy jargons, I prefer connecting with my clients over movies and art. Art is a choice of surreal reflection and our therapeutic conversation is a piece of art, we create in harmonious collaboration. My inclination towards art allows me to appreciate the creative work that is at the core of self inquiry. And due to this approach, I have had the pleasure to work with unique individuals in their journey of self discovery and healing.

Life Story

Psychotherapy as a field was an early decision because as soon as I studied the subject in Class 11th, I knew I will be having this in my life forever. Throughout my undergraduation to my post graduation, I was exposed to varied ideologies, learnings, experiences and training (both technical and subjective) which gave me a direction and helped me understand my unique disposition towards therapy. After receiving my masters degree I took a short sabbatical exploring other areas of my interests, art, writing, books etc. Even then in someway or the other, therapeutic work would find me and I never really broke away from psychotherapy. In between my practice I would also host workshops where I would help people understand mental health using movies as a medium. We would explore biases, narratives and our responsibility towards communal well being. I worked with colleges and non profits to help students gain grounding with their experiences. All these events have moulded me to learn with others and focus on healing rather than recovery, community support rather than a capitalistic approach of isolated growth, which has been my core value for the last 6 years. With the advent of pandemic, I dedicated my three years to consistently provide mental health services which followed more training and insights. Since then I have been working with wonderful organisations and colleagues to help expand the mental health support in our country. Currently I am working as an independent practitioner and freelance consultant. I have learnt a plethora of things in the last few years of my work and am aiming to compile them for others to use for their own purposes and growth. I love sharing life experiences and am open to having an in-depth conversation about our lives. Cannot wait to connect in the future!
